OT: I'm new. read a bunch of the old post. Can't wait to get my standard car. but that will be until next year :cry: . Don't know how to drive a standard but my dad is real good at it. Hope his skills passed down to me. lol

sorry for changing the topic on this post. lol

well my mom is from Manila(sp?) and came to Canada in 71. My dad is from Cabanatuan(sp?). Two hours North of Manila with traffic. He said it is 100 Km to get to Manila(sp?). He got here in 73.

ahhhhhhh ic... no wonder your dad is good at driving manual... you see here in the philippines majority of the cars here are manual... in yr 71 or 73 there were no automatic (i think) in the philippines so i think that's why your dad is good he has alot of practice and experience... (assuming he was driving already)

he said he learned how to drive when he was in grade 5. Him and his brother stole the jeep lol. The police couldn't do anything because his uncle was the mayor of the part he live.

He also drove a truck where he worked in the philippines.

damn, i can't believe i'm the only chick! then again, when i got my last car, the dealer said i'm the only female that's specifically requested MT in the past ten years of his experience.

Yes, there are definitely other chix out there. But the number is a little low here in new york city, since a lot of people don't drive much in the first place, and secondly, there's a lot of traffic.
You may have noticed on my other post about shifting point (...since you replied), that i've got a 99 VW Cabrio. A few years back, i had GTI. Convertibles are so much fun though ;)
