The Best Keep Getting Better & Better

"The best-in-class dealerships offer better compensation, therefore they have lower turnover and longer tenure," he said.

Low turnover and long tenure means the best keep getting better because employee productivity improves as a result of on-the-job training. So it's all connected.

Szakaly defines "best in class" as the top 20 percent performing dealerships in net profit gains and cost efficiencies. He says a dealer gets to be best in class from operational know-how.

"It's how one operates their business," he said. "It doesn't have to be a big dealership group to be a best in class."

Getting the bed of the truck Line-X'ed this Saturday - aye!
Taking the bike in next week for a stator recall - nay!
Not having to pay for a tow since the stator hasn't failed and left me stranded yet - aye!
Dealing with major heartburn and GERD issues - nay!
Planning a backpacking trip with the g/f this weekend - aye!
Dog has a suspected ACL injury and can't be running hard - nay!
Dad was visiting TX for the fist time the other week - aye!
Dad's getting really old - nay!
Bonuses paid this month - aye!
Got a major project with lots of exposure - nay!
Project is going good so far - aye!
Damn 78* out today and I'm sitting on the balcony - aye!
I don't have any beer - nay!
But I have setzer water that I'm addicted to - aye!
