*sigh* :(

I'm really disappointed with what Subaru is doing to the venerable Impreza. And this STI just proves my point.

The way I see it, the design engineers reserved the body arches for the $30K+ car, leaving the base Imprezas looking like an economy car. And it's not priced like one. It's quite clear from these photos that they are trying too hard to impress people, I mean, look at the flares, they look like they are on steriods or something, sheesh! I'd rather go for a Legacy GT 6-speed please.

However, I voted for neutral, simply because I want to check this out in real life, they might actually look better up close, or maybe in a different color shade.

BTW, I was surprised to see these STIs have SI-Drive in them.

I've heard that SI-Drive is all but useless unless you stick it in Sport Sharp all the time.

the Impreza and WRX come in sedan or hatch, but the STI will be hatch only. :(

i think the point is to down tune the car to get better fuel economy when you're not romping on it. Sport# would be like the normal tune, and the others would probably have less aggressive timing and less boost. the cool thing about SI Drive though is that it opens up a new opportunity for aftermarket engine management where instead of flashing 1 map, you could flash 3 and use the SI Drive control to switch between them real time.

Interesting how almost everyone thinks it's "OK" according to the poll.

That's just it - it's "OK." No flair, no "x factor," nothing to grab you by the balls and make you want that car. It's just normal now, with a bit more power.

JDM Brochure of New STI

The SI-Drive from my understand of the DRIVE magazine is that it basically controls the sensitivity and percentage of throttle (or something like that) of the gas pedal.
  • In intellegent it's not to sensitive (for economy), so you can mash the gas and still have a smooth accelleration. Gas floored will give like 80% throttle.
  • Sport would be like standard feel and pedal floored is 100%
  • Sport Sharp is very sensitive and 3/4 pedal use is already 100% throttle or something like that.
I'll have to find the magazine again to be sure.

Oh the Gold Rims only come on the blue car. AND there is already talk about putting out an STI sedan for 09 for USDM.
