I think my clutch is slipping
So another problem..
The other day I was in 4th gear driving up a slightly uphill on ramp. The engine rpm went up a bit but the speed didn't increase. Now it only happens in 4th gear and only sometimes. However I get this vibration when I give it a good amount of power in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear, I am betting this all could be related.
Also there was only 70k on this clutch. I was wondering if the cheap aftermarket part had something to do with this.

Re: I think my clutch is slipping
Hmm...maybe your clutch is slipping. One way to tell if your clutch is slipping is to put the car in 4th or 5th gear at a dead stop with the parking brake on and engage the clutch. If the car doesn't stall immediately, it's a good indication that your clutch is slipping.

Alright I will have to try that. It probably will stall because its on the beginning of the way out.Shadow wrote:Hmm...maybe your clutch is slipping. What he's doing also works to diagnose most clutch slippage. Select gear closes to 1:1 ratio (usually 4th) and floor the throttle in the beginning of the power band of the car while driving. Speed will vary based on the powerband. A slipping clutch will often show itself then.

Re: I think my clutch is slipping
I wonder what the clutch will look like when I eventually do it. I wonder what its going to feel like after I replace it with an OE clutch. So excited, now I need to find the time.

Re: I think my clutch is slipping
I wonder, what mine looks like too. Same with the flywheel. I bet it looks like crap due to a rear main seal leaking. Plus, I get to see what damage I did to it when I was learning how to drive manual with it (even though it was slipping a little when I bought it.) 110,735 miles with factory clutch is not bad.bk7794 wrote:I wonder what the clutch will look like when I eventually do it. What did do to cause a burning clutch for a burnout? Weren't they suppose to drop the clutch at a high rev and then hit the brakes quickly while giving it gas? Or at least that is what I've been told (don't have RWD manual only automatic and scared to do it in an automatic).
