Currently listening to Beautiful World by Colin Hay (formerly of Men at Work). I've been on a non-loud or obnoxious music kick lately.

Then how can it still be music? An inquisitive public demands to know!

The most beautiful mezzo-soprano voice I have ever heard, Frederica von Stade:

From Rossini's opera La Cenerentola (a.k.a., Cinderella), Abbado conducting.

Can't stop listening to this amazing voice. It's the same piece as in my July 27 video post above (starting about 1:47 in on that one):

Is that Celine, whose harp will go on, Dion?

Try listening to her in French. It's terrifying.

As sung by the Trapp Family Singers*, a folk song putting worms into the mouth of a Trolean freedom fighter who was about to be executed:

Oh, heavens, it is playful, I can no longer live for! / Death is coming, want to give me my dismissal. / My life is over, I need out of this house / my life is over, I need out of this house.
Me, General from the sand that they führn now caught / my 'bitter bloody sweat, the habns taken from me. / You führn me out of the country with the greatest scorn and shame.
Here is my Sabel and Gwehr, and all my clothes / I'm not a man of war, oh heaven, I'm a Sorry / I'm leaving all the Roman Emperor Franz
The capital of Tyrol, they HPs taken from me, / it is no longer a means to get them wiedrum, / it is no longer a means wenns nit comes from above.
O mournful time, what will become of me, / the command is ready, I should be shot, / it's been long well known in the whole country.
O great sky woman, you Queen Mary, / I trust in you now, O Virgin Mary. / O liabe woman, i beg: "Leave the sand host nit!"

* - The woman seated on the chair doesn't look much like Julie Andrews or Carrie Underwood.
