Stick it to The Man: Cars that still offer a manual transmission in 2016
Not the best presentation of content via a slideshow, but it was interesting to see CNET covering such an article via their Roadshow site.

yeah, they had pics of higher trim levels that don't come in manual. nice to know you can get at least a lower level of all those cars with the manual.

I don't care what they call it, the SS is exactly what I want...a practical (and presumably comfortable) RWD manual V8 sleeper sedan that doesn't draw attention. I wish I could afford one.

You've hit the nail on the head, thy holy one, and not to mention, quite a capable handler (unlike its counterpart from Dodge *ahem*). It's the perfect car, in my opinion, and that is without my inherent bias hahahatheholycow wrote:I don't care what they call it, the SS is exactly what I want...a practical (and presumably comfortable) RWD manual V8 sleeper sedan that doesn't draw attention. How about adding a manual to that Charger of yours, buddy.Rope-Pusher wrote: Paint a set of rear doors onto a Challenger!

Word. Manual Chargers, at all trim levels (or at least with each of the available engines), would be relevant to my interests and might actually get me interested in a Chrysler product. The Charger screams "HEY LOOK AT ME I'M AN ATTENTION WHORE" unlike the SS, but it does look nice and, well, I just really like RWD manual.six wrote:How about adding a manual to that Charger of yours, buddy.

I read somewhere (might have been here, might not) that the floor pans are fundamentally different in a way that renders that swap non-trivial.

CVTs & 4-CYLINDERS ON THE RISE - Autoline Daily commenting on Wards Automotive article.
As fuel economy and emission standards continue to ramp up, we’re going to see a shift in the types of powertrains offered in vehicles. And according to a new survey from WardsAuto, 4-cylinders and CVTs are on the rise. So far this year, the number of 4-cylinder engines installed in 2016 model year import and domestic light vehicles has shot up nearly 4% compared to last year to 53.4%. It’s also higher than the previous peak set back in 2014. The increase had to come from somewhere and V8s are taking it on the chin. Installations in 2016 have fallen to 13.8%, the lowest it’s been in the last 6 years. Now let’s move over to transmissions, where not only have 8- and 9-speed automatics seen a steady rise, but CVTs are taking off. They’ve hit a record 19.1% so far in 2016, which is up from 9.6% just 3 years ago. CVTs offer great real-world fuel economy and consumers seem to be warming up to them. And while the anti-enthusiast CVT is having a record year, the manual transmission is hanging onto a thread. They’re down to 3.2% in 2016, which is down from 3.9% last year and from the 6-year high in 2013 of 6.7%.

I would rock a manual cherry red Dodge Magnum. Practicalish and moisturizing! Alas it doesn't exist.theholycow wrote:I don't care what they call it, the SS is exactly what I want...a practical (and presumably comfortable) RWD manual V8 sleeper sedan that doesn't draw attention. Converting a Magnum to the Amish faith would be munch easier than the job that THC did when converting his Buick.

But it would still be the most useless wagon around. Also ugly unless its the facelifted version or has a Challenger front grafted on.

You're making me moist. Of course I would go for the facelift or Challenger front end. The original os a bit blah.watkins wrote:But it would still be the most useless wagon around. Also ugly unless its the facelifted version or has a Challenger front grafted on.
They can keep the 20s though.
