Oh, fun!
Upstairs toilet overflowed for several hours, it rained in the dining room and on my computer desk, chair, etc, then that section of the dining room ceiling fell a couple hours later.

Now is the time to do whatever electrical, plumbing, data lines, light fixtures, fix squeaky floors, etc.

Fo sho. We plan to do some creak remediation and probably add another ceiling fan on the other side of the room (that ceiling was also exposed to water and will need to be torn down and replaced).

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
With all the cats we've got running around here, I would not have been surprised if one of them was in the ceiling somehow.
The insurance people and water abatement people were here today. All of the visible water was dried up the first day, but they have a bunch of industrial blowers blowing into the open ceiling and at/in the walls to dry out the internal spaces. The affected area is sealed off with plastic in the doorways with a zipper for entry, I feel like I'm in the latter half of the movie E.T. every time I come in here.
There are 7 of these running plus a dehumidifier. It sounds like I'm flying from England to jump into France.

Just because you can't see it is no reason to ignore the invisible water.
It's interesting to interface with these companies that clean up after fires and di-hydrogen monoxide escapes. There is a whole world out there that most people don't even know about.
I remember after the fire at the church where the local boy scout troop kept their equipment, this company swore they had to get the smell of smoke out of all the scouting gear that the Scouts had worked so diligently to impart to them. We took the equipment out of the building until after all the repairs and smoke odor remediation was signed-off on.

I'll be at 9 this year, I think. I believe I registered sometime late in 2008.watkins wrote:Holy shit. Ill hit ten years on this dump in just over a month
What's interesting is looking at some old posts of mine and hardly recognizing them as my own. A lot of shit has changed in last 9 years. This probably has been the decade of the most growth for me. Luckily not physical growth. I'm tall enough as it is.

The air is thinner way up where he is. Sometimes hes a bit slow. Though it could be a side effect of the nuclear fallout...
