I totally was thinking of another post on another forum, so my post above is not relative. I actually need to go out and drive at 3k, but I suspect I'll be up in the 80s at that speed as well.

Well, according to the table posted by your buddy Sonic, you should be going 99 mph at 3000 RPM in 6th gear. Unless you have different gearing....
AHTOXA wrote:Same gearing, but I didn't think it'd be that high. Doesn't sound right - I'll have to test.
Yeah, let us know. It wouldn't surprise me, actually. With all those overdrive ratios, I can see how a Sonic would be moving fast in top gear at 3000. With gearing like that, the engine is revving nice and low at normal highway speeds in 6th gear, which is great for fuel economy.
Just saw this 3 year old thread now. Shadow - nice tall gearing in your Audi! My '02 Forester 5MT does about 70mph at 3000 rpm. The 5MT '98 Subaru Outback I had (and another '02 that I drove) were only at 60mph at 3000 rpm. 65mph was 3200, don't know why Subaru chose that gearing. The engine certainly felt powerful enough to get away with taller gearing.
Hey guys, it's been a while, but I'll have to update my info in this thread since I got a new A5 and they changed the gearing a bit since my old 2011 A5. I also got a new Trailhawk Grand Cherokee. As you can see, I went with white on both vehicles this time. Lovin' both vehicles, even the 8-speed slushbox in the Jeep.

welcome back man!! kinda surprised you got another grand cherokee after all the complaints you had about the other one that replaced the 4runner (i think that's what you had before at least). also like the new A5 (and A4), but i'd probably aim for the sportback if i got one. dreams of audi cruising will have to do for now.

Well, it seems they have sorted out the transmission problems at this point and that was my only serious gripe, so I decided to get a second one. Besides, Toyota is still selling the same ancient 4Runner from the 2010 model year, complete with that ancient 5 speed automatic. If they had a new one out, I would've considered it, but they are really dragging their ass when it comes to the new model.
