Interesting fairly new idea

Post by Bodder »

Six Stroke

Basicly it has normal 4 strokes of any engine then it uses the heat from previous explosion and injects water that turns to steam.

Cool idea and has no polutants.

Maybe future of car motors?

sounds pretty wild, i wouldnt mind having a new wave of more environmentally cars come into the market. but there is tons of technology that can be so efficient and eco-friendly but it seems the car companies never really follow through with them.

It is a really cool idea, but it still release pollutants due to the fact that is still burns fossil fuels like a normal ICE, but it gets 2 power strokes where a normal 4-cycle engine only get 1 per cycle. So efficiency is increased and pollutant emissions will be reduced because more power is created with less fuel over the 6 stroke cycle versus a 4 stroke cycle.
That's what she said.

But you will have to basically have a second gas tank just to hold the water...

Not to mention what happens when the water injector goes bad, or you run out of water? Without even a back up fan, your engine would overheat AND be lacking in power.

Oh, and something else just occurred to me. With all that water being poured into the motor, isn't there a chance that enough water won't be instantly vaporized, and will eventually wash away the oil in the cylinder, or at least mix with the oil?

It's an interesting idea, though. :)

why don't we just get rid of 5-ton SUVs with 8-liter engines? no one needs that

im assuming that engine would run like hell until its fully warmed up. i dont know enough about it yet. but it wont create steam if the egine is still cold. so ud be running at 4 strokes until the engine is warmed up. the extra 2 strokes will slowly kick in.
